After graduation, I attended the U. of Hawaii as a EE major, but later transferred to the U. of Maryland and received a B.S. in Business. How I went from a EE major to Business is a mystery to me. Anyhow, after spending a couple of tours in the Air Force as an Intelligence Analyst, I got tired of memorizing ever-changing security combination locks to office entrances and safes.  Though I did miss taking vacations to fascinating places such as Italy, Greece, and Germany, I decided to switch services and joined the Navy to give Healthcare Administration a try. So far, as Comptroller (Financial Manager) for naval hospitals, I can't complain.  Switching to the Navy allowed me to see more of Europe. My favorite vacations were in Capri, Paris, Sorrento, Garmisch (Germany) and the Black Forest in Bavaria. Among others, the job took me to places such as London, Wales, Seville, Lisbon, Sardinia, and Bath, so you can see why I'm not complaining! My wife and two children enjoyed every minute of our naval tour in Italy! Other tours of duty included Monterey, CA, and Philadelphia, PA. The Navy decided that I wasn't smart enough so they sent me back to college at the Naval Postgraduate School (it used to be known as the Naval Academy Graduate School) and I graduated with a Master's in Finance. I still wasn't satisfied so I got another Master's Degree in Public Administration with Troy State University. Then with some leftover academic energy, I joined the Association of Healthcare and Resource Materials Management (AHRMM) and later became creditialed as a Certified Senior.  The American Academy of Medical Administrators (AAMA) is another organization that I'm affiliated with that takes up the rest of my time. With my fingers crossed and some major studying, I may reach diplomate status with the AAMA. I'm currently assigned as Assistant Comptroller ("bean counter") in the Washington DC area with the Naval Medical Information Management Center. My job mainly deals with budgeting and accounting for as much as 50 million beans for our organization consisting of medical project managers in charge of "wire-heads." During my off-duty time, I spend quality time with my wife, Cathy (Radford alumnus '80), and my two children, touring the DC area.
