I told fellow classmates at graduation that I would live anywhere but Washington, D.C. No way was I ever going to live in Washington, D.C. I would live in the North Pole or Siberia before I would live one moment in Washington, D.C.
I've been living here in Washington, D.C. for the past seventeen years.
During
my freshman year in college I joined the Reagan/Bush campaign and that
was that. My senior year in college I was an intern (before Washington
intern meant other things) at the National Journalism Center in Washington,
D.C. I graduated from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island with
a BFA in Creative Writing and Theatre (spent a portion of my Junior year
studying in London) and set off for a career in politics in our fine Nation's
Capitol. I worked for Senator Jeremiah Denton,
Senator
Bob Packwood, Senator William Roth, the U.S. Senate Finance Committee,
and the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI ) doing
secret stuff. I also worked on the staffs of two large Episcopal
Churches and have become embroiled in Episcopal Church politics as well,
serving on the Legislative Committee of the American Anglican Council (AAC).
Currently
I am an event planner in the conference center of a global law firm, Akin,
Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld. I hope to marry some day (at least
once), but the thought of changing diapers while everyone else is sending
the kids off to college is frightening! In the meantime, I'm looked
after by two Maine Coon Cats, Emily (age 18) and Madeleine (age 2).
On the weekends I enjoy antiquing in the country, traveling to distant
places far from Washington, writing, hanging out with friends and
family,
planning parties, and redecorating my apartment. My favorite places
are Manhattan, London, and Santa Cruz, CA. I miss Hawaii terribly
and can't even talk about it without having a box of Kleenex nearby.
I also love writing to fellow Radford grads! This best class ever:
The Class of '79!
